Bred by Helmut Losekam of Hatzbachtal Kennel in Germany, Ben was trialed very successfully by Herbert Jakobi. Mr. Jakobi and Ben obtained multiple perfect scores in protection and tracking. In 2001, Ben was imported as a fifteen times SchH3 competitor. Thirteen of these were V-rated. The other two were high SG scores earned at the 1999 and 2000 BLSP where Ben attained a 4th place and a 3rd place. In 2002, Ben was retired due to an injury. He is not available to public stud.
On the field, Ben is an enthusiastic and happy obedience worker. He has strong prey drive and his desire to please is extraordinary. His protection work is powerful and intense. He is not fond of Texas' heat and unforgiving tracking conditions, but has learned to adapt.
At home, Ben gets along well with the other dogs and is calm and easy going. He is kind with his friends and family, but sensibly territorial of property boundaries.
